Lonely archer, take your aim Might get lucky tonight Shoot your arrows, and let ‘em rain Yeah I might fall in love tonight Send your sweet little nothings through the air They might pierce through my skin just right Lonely archer, hey we’re the same C’mon to my side Take a chance on me babe Take a chance on me Fall into this dream, babe Take a chance on me Through the forest, through the trees Keep a steady eye on me Think I’m done playing hide and seek Oh I’m ready to be seen Cause I’ve been waiting for someone just like you To come knock me off of my feet Lonely archer, quit playing games Could be everything we need Take a chance on me babe Take a chance on me Fall into this dream, babe Take a chance on me Take a chance on me babe Take a chance on me Fall into this dream babe Take a chance on me

Lyrics: wonder oh I wonder am I dreaming with my eyes wide I got kind of lost inside a feeling on a slow ride following the crumbs that were laid down before me I picked them one by one will I find my way, will I find my way oh I’m just a little lost just a little left of the middle will you be waitin’ I’m just a little lost in a riddle left of the middle will you be waitin’ wonder oh I wonder am I fading into white noise cause all the world around me’s rearranging oh I feel your voice it’s calling loud and clear trying to pull me to the surface when I thought I’d disappeared will I find my way, will I find my way oh I’m just a little lost just a little left of the middle will you be waitin’ I’m just a little lost in a riddle oh oh oh will you be waitin’ I’m just a little lost just a little left of the middle will you be waitin’ I’m just a little lost in a riddle left of the middle say you be waitin’ say you’ll be waitin’…

Somebody’s breaking the silence I hear them callin’ your name comin’ in cool and inviting isn’t it always the same I know I know the end is here I saw you burn through the atmosphere I only wanted to keep you near but go baby go baby fly on go baby go baby fly on hey I hope you find what you want, love I hope those dreams all come true with these new horizons between us Maybe we are what we lose I know I know I know the end is here I saw you burn through the atmosphere I only wanted to keep you near but go baby go baby fly on go baby go baby fly on right into the night into another another’s open arms hey did I hold you too tightly another falling star I saw you shining so bright then I watched it all go dark and now I’m losing your light See it fading from afar I’ll always where you are I know I know I know the end is here I saw you burn through the atmosphere I only wanted to keep you near but go baby go baby fly on go baby go baby fly on

about

Representing a turning-of-the-page for the band, Following The Curves introduces Nightjacket's new vocalist, Canadian-born Andrea Wasse (Digital Daggers, DeadXLife). Recalling the haziness of Eighties and Nineties touchpoints such as The Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star and The Sundays, Following The Curves is also a personal exercise in chemistry and musical partnership.

After hearing a few demos sent by guitarist Jordan Wiggins, Wasse zeroed in on what would become the song “Lonely Archer,” a channeling of idols such as Hope Sandoval and Neil Young when composing lyrics and melody. Upon meeting Wiggins and multi-instrumentalist Louie Schultz for the first time in person, Wasse recorded vocals for “Lonely Archer" that very day at Schultz’s studio in Eagle Rock, CA and an instant partnership was born. Additional songs quickly followed, ranging from the psychedelic Americana of “Lucky” to the analog synth-fueled “Burn Through Your Atmosphere” and the jangly, alternative pop of “Just A Little,” all featured on the collection.

“I hope listeners get lost in the music, in the best way,” says Wiggins. “I love that transformative power of music, where it can take you to a different place or a different time, or just take you out of the moment that you're in. I think that's the case with a lot of the new music that we're working on with Andrea – it has a sense of place and space, which I think listeners gravitate towards, even if it isn't on a conscious level.”

Praise for Nightjacket:

“Shoegazey pop band Nightjacket make dreamy, lovesick jams for
nocturnal settings.” – Stereogum

“Buoyed by smoky, chanteuse-like vocals, Nightjacket’s lush dream-pop taps into the heavily nostalgic vibes of bands like Mazzy Star and Beach House.” – SPIN

“‘Lonely Archer’ is just a pixel of the portrait to come from Nightjacket’s marriage with Wasse and recalls the vocal styles of Mazzy Star, standing on textures of dreamy-sedative alt-pop.” – American Songwriter
